It
This
year's Cornwall Festival of Cycling was back on the road during
28 June
and
12 July bringing weird and wacky bikes for everyone to try as well
as more normal bikes for people to re-discover how much fun cycling
can be.
The
Cornwall Festival of Cycling delivered 3 public Roadshows in Launceston,
Truro and Penzance. People of all ages and abilities were encouraged
to come along and have a go on a range of unusual bikes, make a
healthy smoothie by pedal power alone, try out virtual reality cycling,
pick up cycle skills and speak to the team of experts about any
aspect of cycling. There was information on facilities and trails
in Cornwall, as well as information on cycling in general, bike
racks, cycling to work and much more.
All
Roadshows took place between 10:30am - 4pm on Saturday's and started
in Launceston on June 28th, travelling to Truro on July 5th and
then to Penzance on July 12th.
This
year's Festival was delivered by the North West events management
company, Pennine Events Limited, in partnership with Bike Right!
one of the first accredited Bikeability centres and National
Standard Instructor Training providers.
The
Festival also visited a selection of schools across Cornwall which
will benefited from National Standards Cycle Training, cycling-themed
lessons, participate in bike try-out sessions and workshops. This
year the Festival visited 3 Secondary Schools and 5 Primary Schools.
The students had the opportunity to learn about the health benefits
of cycling, basic maintenance and safety and then actually had a
go on some of the curious and surprising bikes.
Cycle
training will also be offered to 96 students, who will all be trained
up to level 2 of the new ‘Bikeability' national standards, giving
them the skills and confidence on the roads.
